About us ...

The chair for intelligent materials (iMSL - Intelligent Material Systems Lab) at Universität des Saarlandes (UdS) is managed by Prof. Seelecke.

 

The chair belongs to the departments of Systems Engineering (previously Mechatronic) as well as Materials Science. It was introduced as part of an expansion project for the Engineering Sciences at UdS, Motivated by the successful research activities of Prof. H. Janochas, the next chair for unconventunal actuators newly renamed in 2015.

Financial support comes from the State of Saarland and the Saarland Chamber of Industry and Chamber of Commerce, in the form of endowed professorship for the current chairholder.

Further support is due to the Alfried Krupp from Bohlen and Halbach Foundation through the returnee programm for German scientists administered by the German Scholars Organization.

Chair continues to be a part of the Zentrum für Mechatronik und Automatisierungstechnik (ZeMA) (Eng. the Center for Mechatronic and Automation technic), where it is also located. As a part of the actuation/sensing department the chair primarily works with industrial and application-relevant research topics.
